Physical Education
Grade 9-12 The planned four-year physical education program is designed to assist the students in achieving and maintaining a desirable level of physical fitness. It strives to promote an understanding of the relationship between regular physical activity and health. The program provides sports, games, and various physical activities that promote self-confidence, the ability to work within a group, mutual respect, and a competency for participation in lifetime sports.
Health I
Grade 9 The freshmen health curriculum encourages students to stay drug free by supplying them with accurate information about the effects of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs on their health and the health of others. In addition, the course shows students how to resist peer pressure to use drugs and encourages them to participate in healthy alternatives to drugs.
Driver Education
Grade 10 All students receive instruction in driver education. Classroom instruction includes: 1. Mental attitudes and physical characteristics related to driving. 2. Effects of motor vehicle on modern life 3. Laws and regulations affecting the use of cars. 4. Characteristics of streets and highways 5. Understanding the automobile and its maintenance. 6. Developing driving skills: responsibility of driver for safety. 7. Competency test at the conclusion of the course.
Health III
Grade 11 Junior health emphasizes the importance of safety, first-aid, and CPR. The course is designed to help students acquire the knowledge and skills needed to effectively respond to emergency situations. The class also incorporates both indoor and outdoor safety precautions and accident prevention information.
Health IV
Grade 12
The senior health curriculum provides information on communicable sexually transmitted diseases and the high risk behaviors that contribute to their prevalence in today's society. The course is abstinence based and includes discussions on personal relationships and prevention techniques. The endocrine system as well as the male and female anatomy is also discussed.
