Freshman Band 1

Grade 9
This is the only band option for freshmen.
Band is a course for instrumental students that enjoy their study of music through performance in ensembles. The course is designed with three components: Music Theory/History, Instrumental Method, and Instrumental Ensemble. Students are members of the Band program and, to the extent possible, are scheduled for a technique lesson one lunch period in the cycle. All members are eligible for membership in Marching Band and other co-curricular small ensembles. Students are required to attend pre-concert rehearsals (after school/evening) in addition to their own daily practice. Participation and performance in concerts arerequired.
Prerequisite: Department approval/ meeting with student.

 

Symphonic Band II, III, IV CP

Grade 10 - 12

Wind Ensemble II, III, IV Honors

Grade 10 - 12
Wind Ensemble is an honors course for advanced instrumental students with a high level of musical achievement. The course is designed with three components: Music Theory/History, Instrumental Method, and Instrumental Ensemble. Students are members of the Band program. All members are eligible for membership in Marching Band and other co-curricular small ensembles. Students are required to attend pre-concert rehearsals (after school/evening) in addition to their own daily practice. They also have to prepare the Region solo piece. Participation in Region Band will be determined by the department faculty.
Prerequisite: Department approval/after successful completion of January exam

 

Music Theory/History/ Technology V Honors

Grade 12
Music Theory/ History/ Technology V Honors explores theoretical aspects of music: notation, harmony, style, history and composition. The course also teaches introductions to music technology. The course is designed to prepare students for college music programs and auditions.
