Girls Tennis - Meet our Coach:

Christine Kretz is a graduate of St. Joseph's University, Philadelphia, where she was on the college rowing team. She began to play tennis after graduation because it was easier to find a tennis court and tennis players than a river and a racing shell.

Coach Kretz joined the Immaculata Tennis staff in 2008 and is committed to continuing the tradition of Immaculata sports which demands personal motivation and work in addition to team effort and pride. She is also committed to the United States Tennis Association No-Cut tennis team philosophy which helps create well rounded student athletes, develops leadership and teaches responsibility, gives all students the ability to try something new and allows new and experienced players to compete without the worry about failure. girlstennis

By encouraging new players to learn to play the sport, directing them where and how to further their development off season, and by welcoming many professional tennis instructors and physical trainers at practices and camps, the Immaculata tennis program has produced successful teams that have been recognized by the Skyland Conference coaches and the New Jersey State newspapers.

In 2006 the Star Ledger ranked the Immaculata girls tennis team #4 in Somerset County and #7 in the New Jersey non-public group. The girls went undefeated in 2006 and won the Skyland West Conference title. The gIrls team members have continually made Skyland Conference All-Stars and our girl's team's first singles player has qualified for states 5 out of the past 6 years. Our varsity team has included USTA district and sectionally ranked players.
