REBEL Program - Reaching Everyone By Exposing Lies

The mission of the REBEL movement is to reach, educate and empower New Jersey youth to make healthy lifestyle decisions and to support non-smoking as the social norm.  Our REBEL Chapter has monthly meetings, as well as planning five major events throughout the year.

SADD - Students Against Destructive Decisions

SADD is a national organization founded in 1982. The mission of SADD is to change behaviors through education and prevention efforts. SADD students are committed to leadership, communication, and teamwork. The Immaculata SADD chapter is open to any student, and at the present time our active membership represents over 50% of the student population.

SADD encompasses the following activities:

Membership Drive | Red Ribbon Week | Safety Belt Awareness | Drunk Driving Education, Club Drug Prevention | Tobacco Prevention | Signs of Depression | Fatal Vision Goggles | Prom Pledge Signing | Drunk Driving Awareness Week

  • Membership Drive

During the last week of September, the SADD Executive Board runs a membership Drive. Leaders of the organization set up a table in each lunch period to invite students to join SADD. The senior members visit each freshman homeroom to explain the programs. New members are given a membership card with the Contract for Life on the back.
  • Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is a week to acknowledge the fight against drugs. It began because a D.E.A. (Drug Enforcement Agent named Enriques Camarena ) was killed in the war against drugs.
  • Safety Belt Awareness

The SADD organization stresses the importance of safety belts, by offering public service announcements.  It also sponsors a Safety Belt Awareness Day in which the Executive Board members spot check cars at drop off points around campus. The students wearing their seat belts are rewarded.
  • Drunk Driving Education, Club Drug Prevention, Tobacco Prevention, Signs of Depression

Throughout the school year the Immaculata SADD chapter sponsors speakers and discuss relevant issues affecting the students.
  • Fatal Vision Goggles

The SADD Executive Board will visit each homeroom and demonstrate the Fatal Vision Goggles. The students get an idea for what it feels like to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. A video on Drunk Driving is shown with a discussion of the myths of alcohol.
  • Prom Pledge Signing

Each year before the Junior and Senior Proms, the SADD Organization offers the students the opportunity to sign the Contract for Life.
  • Drunk Driving Awareness Week

Each year during the month of April the SADD organization offers a week of awareness on the dangers of drunk driving. The students prepare public service announcements, and various pertinent activities are planned.
