Sr. Dolores Margaret, IHM – Music Director-sdoloresm@immaculatahighschool.org

Sr. Dolores is currently in her 30th year at Immaculata as the Department Supervisor and Chairperson. She is the Director of the Music Ministry program & Spring Musical and also teaches music theory, history and instrumental lessons.

 

Sr. Dolores earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Immaculata College.  Sr. Dolores earned elementary certification from Temple University and a Master of Music Degree from West Chester University.

 

Sr. Dolores has touched the lives of countless students during her career and under her tutelage at Immaculata the music program has seen unprecedented growth. She is an active member of the Music Educators’ National Conference, Central Jersey Music Education Association, and National Catholic Educators Association.

 

 

Edward J. Webber ‘99 - Band Director, Brass- ewebber@immaculatahighschool.org

Mr. Webber is currently in his 9th year at Immaculata and 6th year as Band Director at Immaculata High School. He is the primary Conductor of the Honors Wind Ensemble, Spartan Marching Band, and is one of the District Brass Specialists. His teaching responsibilities include co-conducting the 9th Symphony, assistant conducting Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble and teaching low brass lessons grades 4 -12. He also teaches Music Theory and is coordinator of brass instrumental chamber music, such as the Immaculata Brass Ensemble.

 

Mr. Webber earned his Bachelor of Music from Rutgers: The State University of New Jersey- Mason Gross School of the Arts. While at Rutgers, Ed studied Euphonium with the late William Kellerman.  He was an active member of the Rutgers performing ensembles working under the baton of Dr. William Berz.  He was also a section leader and member of the Rutgers University Marching Band and Pep Band.

 

Starting his full time teaching career in 2003, he has worked to continue and improve on the “Tradition of Excellence” that has always been associated with the Immaculata name.  As an Immaculata graduate of the class of 1999, Mr. Webber feels a strong bond and commitment to the Immaculata Community.  Under his time as band director, his ensembles have seen much success including State and National Championships with the marching band, Superior and Excellent ratings with the concert program.  He spearheaded the realignment of the band program at Immaculata and Immaculate Conception School.  Mr. Webber has had the distinction of being included in the National Society of High School Scholars.  He has received awards for distinguished service and was included in Halftime Magazine’s list of 50 Directors Who Make a Difference. As a private teacher, many of his students have been accepted to the Region and All- State performing groups.  Mr. Webber holds membership in the Music Educators’ National Conference, Central Jersey Music Education Association, National Catholic Education Association, Bands of America, and the US Scholastic Band Association.  He is currently the Liberian for the CJMEA.

 

Ed thanks and credits Sr. Dolores for his love of music education.  Ed currently resides in Dunellen.  Ed thanks his beautiful wife, Genny for all of her love and support and their two children Evelyn and Myra.

 

 

Frank J. Amato - Assistant Band Director,woodwind, famato@immaculatahighschool.org

Mr. Amato is currently in his 5th year as Assistant Band Director at Immaculata High School. He is the primary Conductor of the Symphonic Band & Jazz Ensembles, and is one of the District Woodwind Specialists. His teaching responsibilities include assistant conducting the 9th Symphony, Honors Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble and teaching woodwind lessons grades 4-12. He also teaches Music Theory and is coordinator of woodwind instrumental chamber music, such as the Immaculata Saxophone Quartet.

 

Mr. Amato earned his Bachelor of Music from Rutgers: The State University of New Jersey-Mason Gross School of the Arts. While at Rutgers, Frank studied classical saxophone performance with Dr. Paul Cohen, a leading classical saxophonist, active performer and music historian. Frank studied all the saxophones in the family, including such rarities as the Contrabass Saxophone and Eb Sopranino. Frank started the Rutgers Saxophone Quartet and Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Paul Cohen. Mr. Amato has performed with Dr. Cohen’s group The New Hudson Saxophone Quartet, as well as the New Jersey Pops. He credits his love for the saxophone by the passionate performances of Dr. Cohen.

 

Frank was a 4 year member of the Grammy nominated Rutgers Wind Ensemble, where he played under the baton of director Dr. William Berz, as well as guest conductors such as Kenneth G. Bloomquist, Frank L. Battisti, and John Whitwell.

Frank began teaching saxophone students privately for his alma mater, Roxbury High School, as well as substitute Band Directing in Roxbury, Fairfield and West Essex school districts, before finding home at Immaculata.

 

Mr. Amato’s inspiration in music education is his High School Band Director Darryl J. Bott, who continues to inspire him and his students. Frank currently resides in Bridgewater, where he maintains a private saxophone studio and is an active performer for churches, bands and quartets.

 

Michael A. Gasko IV ’06 – Choral Director, Voice- mgasko@immaculatahighschool.org

Mr. Gasko is currently in his first year of teaching. He is the director of the Immaculata Chorus and Madrigal Choir. Mike also coaches the vocals for the Spring Musical and Madrigal Choir as well as   coordinates small vocal ensembles such as the IHS Barbershop Quartet.

Mr. Gasko earned his Bachelor of Music from The College of New Jersey. While at TCNJ, Mike studied voice with Dr. Nora Sirbaugh. He was an active member of the Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Michael Mendoza and Mr. John McDonnell, and a member of both Lyric Theater and Collegium Musicum under the direction of Mr. Robert Guarino. As a student at Immaculata, Mike was involved in all aspects of the Music Department, including Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Chorus, Pit and Cast for the Spring Musical, and Folk Group.

 

Mr. Gasko now studies voice with Nadine Robinson, and maintains his own private vocal instruction studio. His most recent performance was with Boheme Opera NJ, where he sang in the chorus for the opera “Tosca.” He also sings with the IC Church Choir and Diocese of Metuchen Choir.

 

Mike would like to thank both Sister Dolores and Ed Webber for giving him the opportunity to teach at the school that taught him so much.

 

 

Adjunct Music Faculty

 

Kenneth Riehman ‘97 - Percussion

Mr. Riehman is currently in 8th year as Percussion Specialist at Immaculata High School. His teaching responsibilities include percussion lessons 4th -12th grade as well as conducting the Immaculata Percussion Ensemble.  He also holds an active roll as staff member and arranger on the Marching Unit staff.

 

Kenneth Riehman enjoys his time spent as both a respected educator as well as an active freelance percussionist in the NJ/PA area. He has worked with a wide range of artists from conductors James Levine, Helmuth Rilling and Robert Spano to contemporary artists Clay Aiken and LeAnn Rimes. Ken has performed as a timpanist/percussionist with many fine ensembles including the Savoy Opera Company, the Lancaster Symphony, the Charleston Symphony, and Symphony in C among others. He is currently a percussion faculty member at Valley Forge Christian College as well as West Chester University. Ken graduated with performance degrees from both Rutgers University and Temple University, as well as a masters from Temple.

 

 

Leah Jones - High Brass

Ms. Jones is currently in her 4th year as High Brass Specialist at Immaculata High School and Immaculate Conception School.  Her teaching responsibilities include trumpet and horn lessons grades 4-12, as well as assistant coaching brass ensembles.

Leah attended Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. In 2004, she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a dual Bachelor of Music in horn performance and music education. While at Ithaca College, Leah studied with Alex Shuhan. Continuing her studies of the horn, Leah then attended The University of Texas at Austin to study with Patrick Hughes. She received a Master of Music degree in 2007. Leah currently lives in Bridgewater, New Jersey, where she works as a horn performer and teacher.

 

 

Genevieve Webber - Woodwinds, Immaculate Conception School Band Director

Mrs. Webber is currently in her 5th year as Band Director at Immaculate Conception School and woodwind teacher at the schools. She also serves as Assistant Director to the Immaculata Chorus.

 

Mrs. Webber earned her Bachelors in Music Education and Masters in clarinet performance from Rutgers: The State University of New Jersey-Mason Gross School of the Arts. While at Rutgers she studied under Anthony Pasquale, Andrew Lamy, and Dr. Maureen Hurd.  Additional teachers and mentors include Mark Nuccio of the New York Philharmonic and Pascal Archer.  She has performed with both the Rutgers Wind Ensemble and University Orchestra in such venues as Carnegie Hall.  She currently maintains a private clarinet studio and serves as a woodwind coach for the New Jersey Youth Symphony.

Mrs. Webber resides in Dunellen with her husband and children and works as a teacher of clarinet and organist in the area.
