You can make a difference in an elderly person’s life by providing companionship to a resident of Raritan Health and Extended Care Facility. Those who volunteer to participate in this ministry are paired with nursing home residents for weekly or bi-weekly visitations. Volunteers are paired with nursing home residents according to various interests and needs. One of the greatest diseases that our society suffers from is loneliness and rejection. Your brief visits can help cure this ill that causes suffering on a daily basis. Through giving the gift of your time, your friendship and your love, you can bring the love of Christ to the aged through this important ministry.
“I really like going to the nursing home because I know that some people are stuck in there doing the same thing every day. It really makes their day to talk to young people who are giving their time to visit them. I think this is what Jesus would do.” -Laura Cavanagh, Age 12
“We began visiting our friend “Florence” in the nursing home because we, as a family, wanted to bring some happiness to someone’s life who didn’t have anyone. In return, we have received many blessings and Florence has filled a true void in our lives since all of our parents, and the boys’ grandparents, have all passed away.” – The Danco Family
“”I like going to the nursing home because there are many lonely people that don’t get many visitors, and it make them happy to see young people coming to cheer them up. It also makes God happy because by serving others, we’re also serving Him.”- Kimberly Myers, Age 12
