|Parish Nursing Ministry|
The mission of parish nursing integrates our life in faith with the profession and practice of nursing so that parishioners can achieve healing, wholeness of mind, body and spirit and be strengthened in, with and through our faith community.
If you are a nurse and would like to use your calling to serve our parish community, please consider becoming a Parish Nurse. The Parish Nurse is a volunteer nurse, practicing within the faith community, who assists individuals in maintaining holistic wellness. The role of the Parish Nurse is flexible and independent, with a focus on prevention and wellness. There are many activities to be involved in within the church community. For example:
• Serving as a healthcare resource, meeting the unique needs of the congregation.
Your involvement in this endeavor can be very flexible regarding the areas and the time involved. If “all” you do is to be added to our list of Parish Nurses as a resource to the ministry, your “all” would be making an immeasurable contribution.
Becoming a Parish Nurse is a wonderful opportunity to bring to fruition the adage that “our mission is where our shadow lies.” Your calling has you ministering to the world and yet here lies one more opportunity to minister, as a nurse, to those closest to your home. Within the confines of your shadow lies our Parish Community and it is here that your gifts can be shared and appreciated. Please consider using this valuable calling to serve Jesus as he conveyed, “When I was sick, it was you who visited, for what you have done to the least of these, you have done for me.” (Matthew 25:39-40)
